Summer Edition

Welcome to the eleventh volume of The Connector, Western Research Parks’ quarterly newsletter and your source for the latest developments across our growing innovation community.

This summer, our theme — Continuing the Momentum: Innovation with Purpose — reflects both the progress we’ve made and the strong foundation that supports us moving forward. While this edition marks a leadership transition for Western Research Parks, it also highlights the continued strength of our team, the energy of our business community, and the partnerships that drive our success.

From the arrival of new companies to impactful collaborations and research initiatives, this issue celebrates the work being done every day to connect research and industry and to build a stronger future for our region.

Please enjoy the message below from our Board Chair, David Muir.

At Western Research Parks, innovation with purpose continues to guide us — through transitions, new opportunities, and sustained momentum.

This summer marks a period of change, as we thank Dr. Gailene Tobin Vandenheuvel for her leadership and many contributions as Executive Director. A formal search is now underway for her successor, and we remain committed to advancing the work she helped shape.

Our strong ties to Western University continue to guide our mission, from supporting academic-industry partnerships to housing Western-born ventures and entrepreneurs, including those in the BioNext medtech ecosystem. Together, we’re building a vibrant environment where innovation with purpose thrives.

We’re also pleased to continue welcoming new companies across our Parks, including several at The Collider in the Western Advanced Manufacturing Park. With these latest additions, that building is now fully occupied — a sign of strong demand and continued momentum.

We look forward to what’s ahead.

With appreciation,
David Muir
Associate Vice-President (Innovation and Strategic Partnerships), Western University
Board Chair, Western Research Parks
