Continuing Our Legacy Through Fostering Innovation

Western Research Parks, one of Canada’s leading science and technology parks, is the catalyst for commercialization, partnership development, research translation, and entrepreneurial learning opportunities at Western University.  For over three decades, Western Research Parks has served as a strong link between academics and commerce and is a key contributor to the movement of an idea or a discovery from concept to the marketplace. Established in 1989, the Western Research Parks program now includes three locations on a total of 156 acres: Western Discovery Park, located adjacent to Western University; Western Advanced Manufacturing Park, located alongside Highway 401; and Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park, located south of Highway 402 in Lambton County.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that Western Research Parks is located on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee Lūnaapéewak and Attawandaron peoples, on lands connected with the London Township and Sombra Treaties of 1796 and the Dish with One Spoon Covenant Wampum.

We understand these treaties are marked by a commitment to the preservation of land and water. As we stand in the scenic setting of Western Research Parks, surrounded by woods, water and wildlife, we heed the messages of unity with the land and water, and of sustainability and preservation of our natural habitat.

We recognise that this land remains home to diverse Indigenous Peoples, whom we recognize as contemporary stewards of the land and vital contributors of our society.

We acknowledge historical and ongoing injustices endured by Indigenous Peoples in Canada, and we accept responsibility to contribute towards revealing and correcting miseducation as well as fostering respectful relationships with Indigenous communities.

We move forward with a profound sense of gratitude and respect for the land and its original caretakers, and strive for a future where innovation benefits all members of our community, including those who have been its stewards for generations.
